1. Overview
This Refund Policy explains when Tamper may provide refunds or credits. It does not limit rights that cannot be waived under applicable law or a signed enterprise order form.
2. Subscriptions
- First 30 days: if you cancel a new paid subscription within 30 days of the initial paid start date, Tamper may provide a pro-rated refund for unused time in the current billing period, excluding payment processing fees, usage-based charges, setup fees, and non-refundable hardware charges.
- After 30 days: subscription fees are generally non-refundable. Cancellation stops future renewals but does not automatically refund the current billing period.
- Annual plans: if eligible during the first 30 days, refunds are pro-rated based on unused months. After 30 days, annual plan fees are non-refundable unless required by law or expressly stated in an order form.
- Promotions and trials: free trials, credits, and promotional months have no cash value and are not refundable.
3. Usage-based fees and add-ons
Usage-based charges, AI top-ups, SMS fees, payment fees, transaction costs, chargeback fees, and other consumed services are non-refundable once incurred unless Tamper determines there was a billing error.
4. Hardware returns
- Return window: eligible hardware may be returned within 30 days of delivery if it is unused or in like-new condition, with all accessories, packaging, and serial numbers intact.
- Return authorization: contact support before shipping hardware back. Tamper may reject returns sent without authorization or outside the return window.
- Condition and restocking: refunds may be reduced for missing parts, damage, activation locks, excessive wear, or restocking and shipping costs.
- Defective hardware: Tamper will repair, replace, or refund defective hardware according to the manufacturer warranty, Tamper warranty terms, or applicable law.
- Final sale items: custom, configured, opened consumables, gift cards, and third-party devices marked final sale are not returnable unless defective or required by law.
5. Implementation and professional services
Setup, onboarding, migration, menu buildout, training, and professional service fees are non-refundable once work begins, unless an order form expressly states otherwise or Tamper fails to perform the services after notice and a reasonable opportunity to cure.
6. Transaction disputes and customer refunds
Merchants are responsible for customer refunds, order disputes, chargebacks, tax adjustments, and product-quality issues arising from their café operations. Tamper may help route dispute information through payment processors, but payment networks and processors may make final decisions about chargebacks, reversals, and fees.
If a customer disputes a transaction, Tamper may debit or offset disputed amounts, chargeback fees, payment-network assessments, or related costs from merchant balances or future payouts where permitted.
7. Billing errors
Report suspected billing errors within 60 days of the invoice or charge date. Tamper will investigate in good faith and provide a refund, credit, or corrected invoice if it determines an error occurred.
8. How to request a refund or return
Email legal@tamper.app with your business name, account email, invoice number, charge date, amount, hardware serial number if applicable, and a short explanation. Approved refunds are generally returned to the original payment method and may take several business days to appear.
9. Policy changes
This Refund Policy is version 2026.08.12, effective 2026-08-12. Material changes will be versioned and noticed to affected account owners when required.
